ALFONSO CUARÓN AND DIEGO LUNA AMONG THOSE HONORED AT PUERTO VALLARTA'S FILM FESTIVAL GALA 2004

 

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (November 18, 2004)The inaugural 2004 PUERTO VALLARTA FILM FESTIVAL OF THE AMERICAS (PVFFA) Closing Night Ceremony was held Saturday, November 13 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Organized with the support of the Huston family, the PVFFA honored top Latin American filmmakers and actors who have made a significant contribution to Latin American filmmaking.

Anjelica Huston presented ALFONSO CUARÓN with the John Huston Maverick Award, dedicated to her father’s maverick style of filmmaking and love for the beautiful city and people of Puerto Vallarta – where the Huston family spent many years and considers one of their home towns.

The Puerto Vallarta Film Festival of the Americas marks an important confluence of the independent filmmakers of the Americas. As an International festival, the event brings together filmmakers of divergent styles and subjects, but who face remarkably similar obstacles to the production and distribution of their films. At its core, the Festival creates a forum where these films and filmmakers can come together and share their art, ideas and cultures. The festival is dedicated to discovering and showcasing the international filmmakers of the future.
